Who We Are Seeking:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, and detail-oriented forestry technician to join our team to assist with report writing, collect high-quality field data, and to provide excellent services to our clients. We provide a dynamic and flexible work environment with active and energetic individuals who care about our clients and strive to provide the highest quality services. Start date will be fall 2024.
About the Role:
Office Duties:
Assist with technical writing for reports, particularly Community Wildfire Resiliency Plans (CWRPs) and Wildfire Urban Interface Wildfire Risk Reduction Plans (WUI WRR Plans), and other reports as needed.
Upload field data and/or assist with data entry.
Conduct in-office field data quality control.
Utilize GIS mapping and spatial analysis as needed.
Liaise with clients as required.
Field Duties:
Collect field data accurately and efficiently, including but not limited to: tree and stand information (height, DBH, species, stand density, etc.), general plot information (slope, aspect, etc.), plant identification, fuel loading, wildfire threat assessment plots, and FireSmart assessments.
Use GPS and field map programs to navigate and collect GPS data.
Drive safely in urban and rural environments, on highways and FSRs, in a variety of weather conditions.
Problem solve and communicate openly with Frontera team members and managers.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in forestry, natural resource management or other
Higher preference for candidates who already have forestry or similar professional field experience,
Possesses teamwork skills, can problem solve and is flexible,
Can use computer software such as Microsoft Excel/Word and ArcGIS,
Ability to work safely in the field under a wide variety of weather conditions,
Possesses a valid drivers license and is proficient at driving in all weather and surface conditions, and
Is eligible to work in Canada.
Compensation:
Full-time position,
Wage range from $25-30/hr depending on experience and qualifications,
Compensation includes a competitive benefits package, training allowance and cellphone allowance.
