Solutions for the Urban Landscape

FireSmart for Nquatqua_edited.jpg

Living in and near the forest involves co-existing with natural hazards present in these forests. Urban forestry is planning for co-existing with these risks, and planning to mitigate them.FireSmart describes a process for co-existing with the risk of wildfire. Many municipalities have bylaw requirements for professional reporting to mitigate these risks. Frontera staff work with our clients to develop plans to live resiliently in and near the forest.

How we Help

Assessments, Reports & Policy Development

Wildfire Hazard Assessment Reports

We are highly experienced in providing Wildfire Hazard Assessment Reports as required by Development Permit Bylaws in numerous municipalities. Frontera also works with landowners and asset managers to develop wildfire risk mitigation plans to meet risk management policies.

Arborist Reports

We have several ISA Certified Arborists that can assess and inventory trees on private land, conduct tree risk assessments, and develop tree management plans to protect these trees during development.

FireSmart Assessments

Frontera has several staff that are trained as Local FireSmart Representatives. We can provide assessments and recommendations of homes and critical infrastructure to assess wildfire vulnerability, and identify options for reducing that vulnerability.

Wildfire Policy Development

Frontera has highly experienced staff that understand how wildfire risk can be addressed in wildfire policy, including through bylaw, Official Community Plans, and Wildfire Hazard Development Permit Areas.

what our partners are saying

"One FireSmart program done. Another halfway through. A third under application. None of this would have happened without Frontera's involvement, guidance, professional knowledge, willingness to sort out confusion, and excellent advisement. Stellat'en First Nation is well pleased with the services Frontera has provided and we look forward to a long and productive relationship. Thank you Frontera for helping us protect our community."
