GIS & Remote Sensing
An integral part of any forestry, environmental or land-use project, Frontera's GIS department is dedicated to driving innovation and providing critical spatial insights.
We leverage a diverse array of geospatial technologies to go a step further for our clients – continuously exploring new advancements to enhance our analytical capabilities.
cartographic products
Accurate, informative and tailored to your needs
We deliver high-quality cartographic products for our Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan (CWRP) and Forest Management Plan (FMP) clients. By leveraging ArcGIS software and a deep understanding of forestry dynamics, we provide our clients with the tools they need to make informed planning decisions and enhance their operational effectiveness. Our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction make us a trusted partner among First Nation communities and governments.
heat mapping
Visualizing the impact of heat on local communities
Our GIS team is on the frontline of innovation, constantly incorporating new research and technology into our workflow. Heat mapping is a great way to assess and visualize the impact of heat on local communities. Using Landsat and ground-truthed data, we can produce surface temperature heat maps and derive heat risk classes with additional vulnerability analysis on Google Earth Engine and ArcGIS.
wildfire behaviour
Prediction modeling and fire weather calculations
Wildfire modelling is at the heart of our expertise. We utilize advanced fire growth and ignition models, incorporating topographical, weather and vegetation data to deliver premier spatial modelling insights. Our services enhance emergency planning, support proactive landscape management, and offer comprehensive solutions for a variety of client needs.
Drone & modeling technology
Certified advanced drone pilots and state-of-the-art drone technology
From UAV imagery and mapping to spatial analysis and remote sensing analysis services – our skilled team use cutting-edge technology to offer cost-effective remotely sensed data sets for applied forestry and research projects.
lidar processing
Data-driven digital analysis
We offer a wide range of LiDAR-derived products, such as Digital Surface Models and Canopy Height Models. We incorporate LiDAR processing into our data-driven analysis by deriving metrics such as tree height, stem/ha, canopy density, forest composition, and more.
The Frontera GIS team offers tailored and specialized remote sensing and LiDAR solutions based on the client's needs and resources available.
