Anne-Marie Bouffard
Planning Department Forestry Technician
MSc (c)
After completing a diploma in Fashion Design in Quebec City, Anne-Marie developed a deep passion for sustainability and climate change. This passion led her to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Human Environment in Montreal, where she learned about the connection between humans and the natural environment. Having always been fascinated by plants, Anne-Marie went on to complete a Master’s in Forestry, focusing her research on the albedo of trees using drones, a project she is currently finalizing.
Being from Quebec, Anne-Marie witnessed the devastating effects of the 2023 wildfire season, the worst in the province's history. The smoke from the 4.5 million hectares burned in northern Quebec reached her small hometown located in the south of the province. The alarming situation led her to become interested in pursuing a career in wildfires as it is a critical threat to both humans and our ecosystems. Since moving to BC, Anne-Marie has gained valuable experience in wildfire ecology, deepening her knowledge and understanding of fire-affected landscapes.
She is now excited to expand her expertise and contribute to meaningful wildfire resiliency projects with communities in her new role as a Forestry Technician at Frontera.
In her free time, Anne-Marie embraces her love for the outdoors— whether hiking or running through the forests, swimming in the ocean, or camping in her red camper van. She also loves exploring cities, discovering cultural events, and finding cozy coffee shops. Staying true to her creative roots, Anne-Marie merges her background in art and science through botanical illustration and plant pressing, blending her drawing and painting skills with her love of nature.
