Sophie Dickson-Otty
Project Lead, Prescriptions & Operations
BSF
Sophie has always been drawn to the woods. Growing up in British Columbia, she witnessed the devastating impact of the of the mountain pine beetle, mega-fires, and urban expansion on our forests. From an early age, she wondered if there was a better way to coexist with our natural ecosystems.
Sophie went on to receive a Natural Resource Conservation degree from UBC Forestry, before her curiosity about our relationship with our environment led her to a variety of roles all across the province. Through her early forestry work, Sophie recognized the need for innovation and inclusion in British Columbia’s forest management.
This passion brought her to her current role at Frontera as a Project Lead in the Prescriptions and Operations Department. Her work is driven by the belief that healthier forests and more equitable communities are possible, and that responsible fire and fuel management is a key way to get there.
When she’s not working, you can find Sophie wandering thrift stores, planning trips with her beloved friends, or pursuing her quest to identify every plant in the province (especially the tasty ones).
